I am the CEO / Founder of Textualize.
I've been working in tech for twenty five years now. I started out in video games, developing graphics technology for PCs and games consoles, but the last ten plus years I've spent working with Python. I combined both those skillsets when I wrote Beginning Game Development with Python and PyGame, published in 2007.
I founded Textualize at the end of 2021, because of the increasing popularity of Rich and Textual. Here was an opportunity to take something we developers love (the terminal) and build something really exciting with it.
Hi, I'm Darren 👋 I've been programming for around 10 years, and have worked with a variety of technologies during that time. My current love is Python, which I've now created a few open source projects with. Outside of work play video games, create art (pencil and digital), and sometimes work on hobby coding projects!
Web developer, I started to use Python after having seen its modern features - type hints,
type checking with MyPy, automatic formatting with Black, pytest, Pipenv... 😍
For the last few years I've been working almost exclusively with Python, TypeScript and Go.
I am looking forward to seeing the apps people will build with Textual once we will have fully implemented and documented the CSS machinery and the base widgets!
Outside of work I can usually be found bouldering, or running in Holyrood Park or... at the pub 🍻
